ABSTRACT

Within the realm of medical practice, the subspecialty of neurology is traditionally thought of as a rather complex endeavor. The nervous system is implicated in a multitude of human functions, playing a central role in most of what the body does. In order to arrive at an understanding of a person’s neurologic functioning, and specifically whether it deviates from normal patterns, a systematic approach to neurologic diagnosis is undertaken (DeJong and Haerer, 1998; Mayo Clinic, 1991).
