In the previous edition of this book, Pettigrew and Moser (1991) emphasized the effects of dietary fat on performance of pigs at various stages of production. These observations are still of relevance to swine nutrition and are summarized below. In addition, research related to use of fat in swine nutrition published since the first edition is emphasized.
