ABSTRACT

Graphical summaries of time-to-event data are a critical component in the analysis and reporting of results from many clinical studies. The event can be death, or more likely some other nonfatal event such as disease diagnosis or recurrence. This chapter summarizes key features of graphical methods for time-to-event data. Our presentation includes a review of recent journal articles with graphical

summaries of time-to-event data, and an analysis of graphical output from statistical software. Our software analysis includes relevant graphical output from the statistical software S-PLUS, and extensions to this software to promote focused comparisons of results from the graphical presentations.
