Over.the.years.Ukraine.evolved.a.well-developed.system.of.vocational.education,. consisting. of. various. vocational. schools.. To. graduate. from. such. a. school.one.had.to.put.in.1.to.2.years.of.study..Vocational.school.students.had. to.attend. lectures. several.days.per.week..They.also.applied. their. skills. in. vocational.school.workshops.(apprentice.training)..At.the.end.of.the.semester. or. at. the. final. stage. of. their. education,. students. underwent. on-the-job. training.directly.at.the.factory..After.completion.of.vocational.school,.they. received. a. certificate. and. started. to. work. in. industry.. The. vocational. system.was.responsible.for.preparing.a.qualified.workforce.for.industry,.where. workers.could.not.be.educated.through.on-the-job.training..On-the-job.training.(3.to.6.months).was.used.only.for.preparing.workers.for.jobs.requiring. the.lowest.qualifications.
