Utilize your ve senses: what do you hear, feel, see, smell, and taste? • Odors may stimulate the taste buds, producing a taste reective of the odor for the forensic nurse; for example, the smell of a very sweet odor on a victim’s breath may stimulate the bitter or sweet taste buds on the tongue of the investigator. Answer ve basic questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why?• Contact established with victim: time, date, location.• Mode of arrival.• Detailed description of initial contact, voice annotation, clothing, • verbal and nonverbal behavior, hygiene. Develop a nursing process as an organized method of determining • victim priorities and immediate interventions. Name and relationship of any individual accompanying the victim.• Detailed description of accompanying individual to include voice • annotation, verbal and nonverbal behavior, and any additional information that may relate to the victim and injuries.
