ABSTRACT

One of the rst crime assessments (which has been called a prole by some authors) completed for law enforcement was provided for the Lindbergh kidnapping in 1932. Psychiatrist Dudley Shoenfeld reviewed case information and concluded that the victim was dead when the ransom note was written or shortly thereaer, and that the crime was perpetrated by a single male oender. is information proved to be correct and was considered to be a valuable part of the investigation (Tanay, 1983). It should be noted that this was more of a discourse analysis of the ransom note by Shoenfeld, who reviewed the note and among other things determined that the use of plural pronouns was simply for deceptive purposes.
