Abstract Practical realization of applications for Ambient Intelligence (AmI) poses
several challenges to software developers, many of them related to heterogeneity, dynamism (i.e., mobility) and decentralization. In this chapter, we focus on approaches for decentralized context reasoning and for semantic mediation, since we understand that these are some of the main challenges for enabling interactions among heterogeneous and context-aware entities in open and dynamic AmI environments.
