ABSTRACT
In order to understand the vulnerabilities of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, the preferred design features must be understood. Even these preferred design systems have inherent vulnerabilities and may constitute preventative maintenance challenges. This chapter illustrates the basis of preferred HVAC design for most government buildings as a basis for understanding HVAC design principles for all buildings.
