ABSTRACT

According to Poy et al. (2006), the development of ergonomics in Argentina has been problematic and limited to isolated groups and companies since its beginning. The theme of

‘quality improvement of life’ in the workplace has been neglected due to issues such as industrial reconversion processes, privatization, and infl ation control (Hiba, 1991). As observed by Poy et al. (2006), there is now undoubted evidence of a renewed interest in ergonomics, and in particular, the analysis of work activities. The author also highlights that, although there is a strong interest in ergonomics within educational institutions, ergonomics has not yet been institutionalized in this country, by way of a well-defi ned profi le.
