ABSTRACT
One of the most promising standards for EMR manipulation and exchange is Health Level (HL) 7’s Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) [1], which leverages a semistructured format (Extensible Markup Language [XML]), dictionaries, and ontologies to specify the structure and semantics of EMRs for the purpose of electronic data interchange (EDI). This HL7 architecture has been adopted worldwide.
