ABSTRACT

Environmental regulations are not simply a collection of laws on environmental topics. They are an organized system of statutes, regulations, and guidelines that minimize, prevent, and punish the consequences of damage to the environment. This system requires each individual—whether an engineer, field chemist, attorney, or consumer—to be familiar with its concepts and case-specific interpretations. Environmental regulations deal with the problems of human activities and the environment, and the uncertainties the law associates with them.
