ABSTRACT

The National Health Information Network and its data-sharing building blocks, Regional Health Information Organizations, are encouraging the widespread adoption of electronic health records (EHR) for all hospitals within the next 5 years. To date, there has been little or no effort to dene methods or approaches to rapidly search such documents and return meaningful results. As the use of EHRs becomes more widespread, so does the need to search and provide effective information discovery on them. Information discovery methods will allow practitioners and other healthcare stakeholders to locate relevant pieces of information in the growing corpus of available EHRs.
