ABSTRACT

Heel pain (calcaneal pain) is one of the most common foot problems presenting to the clinical practitioner. In 1999, over 2 million doctor visits were involved with the treatment of heel pain. Age is not a discriminating factor. Heel pain can occur with any age group, but is most commonly found from the age of 8 to 80 years of age. Heel pain is noted in women, men, and children. It is responsible for loss of work days, loss of school days, and loss of income.
