ABSTRACT
Considering the broad range of meanings that can be associated with “remote access,” it is best to narrow the scope of what remote access means in this chapter. Remote access is a means by which a remote user (someone who is physically removed from direct connection to the corporate network) gains connectivity to the resources of a network. A further definition of remote access, for the principal focus of this chapter, is that the users utilize dial-up facilities for access.
