ABSTRACT
Complex distributed networks have made security a critical component of network architecture. Client/server technology is delivering sensitive data and mission-critical applications directly to the desktop. Most of security products of today are designed to do one specific job, without regard to their roles in the larger security scheme. Without appropriate protection on both the Internet and enterprise sides of the network, an organization is vulnerable to even the simplest of attacks. To protect information assets of an organization, IS teams must establish security policies, procedures, and systems to support these assets.
