Trauma is any forcible disruption of tissues by a source of external energy. The energy is conserved during the traumatic episode but may be transferred to another object and may be converted to a different type of energy.Themost commonexternal energy type causing trauma is kinetic energy; however, thermal energy, electrical energy, chemical energy, and ionizing radiation may also cause tissue damage (38).
