ABSTRACT
Overview A pinguecula is a localized, slightly elevated yellowish area in the conjunctiva adjacent to the corneoscleral limbus in the interpalpebral fissure (Fig. 1). The designation stems from its yellowish-white fatlike appearance (Greek: pinguecula, fat) caused by altered underlying connective tissue.
