ABSTRACT

Being an organ that is small, metabolically active, frequently exposed to bright light, and containing many cells that are poor at repairing themselves, the eye is exquisitely sensitive to toxins and especially prone to adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Some structures, including the cornea and lens, are avascular, limiting the ability of these tissues to repair damage.
