ABSTRACT

A nightmare that an IT manager does not want to live through in reality is a serious data protection problem that causes major disruption to the business. That means that no manager should be willing to rely on only one line of defense in data protection. A fallback strategy is necessary in case the first line of defense fails for whatever reason. Lines of defense can be seen as providing degrees or layers of protection. Successfully setting up degrees of protection starts with examining and understanding the general classes of data being used.
