ABSTRACT
From a risk management perspective, the heart of data protection involves disk and tape. The data protection role of both has been changing recently, so it is important to understand how disk and tape complement and compete with each other. The “flashpoint” for how disk and tape complement and compete with each other is in how they interact with traditional backup/restore software. Disk and tape can interact with the traditional backup/restore process in a number of ways.
