ABSTRACT
Policing organized crime remains problematic. Harfield (2008) found that organized crime challenges long-held paradigms about policing delivery infrastructure and whether law enforcement (as opposed to other policing and regulatory interventions) is the most effective way of dealing with organized crime. Perceptions of organized crime have changed. It is now often viewed in terms of preventing harm caused rather than automatically prosecuting criminality.
