ABSTRACT

Over recent years there have been major techno logical advances in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which have been applied to the field of multiple sclerosis (MS). MRI is now used rou tinely in the diagnosis of MS and it has become established as the main surrogate marker in the monitoring of efficacy in clinical trials in MS. Owing to the recent advent of several new thera peutic agents for MS, there has been considerable interest in correlating progressive disability with MRI findings.
