ABSTRACT

The cryopreservation of embryos certainly increases the chance of pregnancy from the initial oocyte collection, and several recipes for the freezing process have been described to optimize embryo survival. However, the effective management of the embryos once in storage is just as important in ensuring that difficulties do not arise because embryos are lost, stored illegally, or used inappropriately. Accurate records and documentation are essential in this time of increased accountability to professional peers, legislators, patients, and society as a whole.
