ABSTRACT

Although in vitro fertilization (IVF) is not the first line treatment for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), many patients with polycystic ovaries (PCO) may be referred for IVF either because there is another reason for their infertility or because they have not conceived after six or more ovulations (ie their infertility remains unexplained despite correction of anovulation). An understanding of the management of such patients is therefore important for specialists involved in IVF.
