ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: In accordance with manufacturing topics emphasised at IMS initiative and ManuFuture vision, the IMS-NoE SIG2 investigated industrial organisation paradigms and ICT solutions to potentially achieve intelligent manufacturing scheduling and control in the extended enterprise. This intelligence of scheduling and control encourages the development of architectures based on autonomy and co-operation of the production facilities and processes while keeping within cost, reliability, availability, maintainability, and productivity (CRAMP) parameters. SIG2 was formed with a large group of academic and industrial people (end-users, vendors) who are working on the important processes in the back-end and at border between front-end and back-end systems to deploy, consistently, manufacturing scheduling and control. This paper summarises the main results obtained by the SIG2 over three years.
