ABSTRACT

The formwork and embedded dowels were installed to final design levels that allowed a uniform crossfall of 2% towards the downstream side and a guaranteed minimum 100 mm thickness for the concrete pavement. The dowels within the pavement panel were chemically anchored to the longitudinal beams while additional anti-curling dowels were chemically anchored to the deck slab around the edges of the panels. The concrete pavement was reinforced using 12 mm diameter high yield stress steel (450 MPa) bars at 100 mm centres each way, with the transversely oriented steel placed on the top layer. The close spacing of the mesh was chosen as a crack limitation measure.
