ABSTRACT
Instead of using highly homogeneous magnetic fields as in conventional NMR spectroscopy, one can perform relaxation measurements in inhomogeneous fields. Such measurements are of great value in well logging and material science. Inhomogeneous magnetic fields can easily be realized by one-sided permanent magnets and surface coils. An NMR device of this kind is the NMR-MOUSE®.
