ABSTRACT
Examination of the core surfaces with low magnification stereomicroscope revealed presence of a transluscent gel at the interface of some coarse aggregates and the surrounding mortar. When observed by unaided eye, the feature exhibited sight of permanent dampness along the stone-mortar interface. Close examination at 10X magnification clearly showed it to be an extrusion of a colourless gel product lining the interface.
