ABSTRACT
The standard test for dynamic mountaineering ropes (EN-892/UIAA-101) puts a multiple of the load of a “normal” fall onto the rope. Never the less many experts do not see the greatest thread in these “normal” fall situations, but in downfalls in which the rope does make contact with a sharp edge.
