ABSTRACT
During the last five years the weight of top of the range bicycle frames and forks could be reduced without sacrificing the stiffness, which is the main quality criterion for a good handling of the bicycle. One of the main reasons for this development is the wider use of high tech materials such as carbon fibre reinforced plastics. The disadvantages of this technology are an increased development effort and higher requirements for the quality assurance for the manufacturing company.
