ABSTRACT

Accurate 3D modeling of the human athlete is a very essential component for sports motion analysis. Existing commercial motion capture systems require the athletes to wear some form of sensors or markers on their body. These objects severely hinder the athletes’ motion and are not suitable to be used during competitions. When only video cameras are used, it is crucial to use a 3D human model that is very similar to the individual human subject. Otherwise, accurate and reliable 3D acquisition is not possible.
