ABSTRACT

During a cricket match the bowler delivers balls to the striking batsman and tries to force them into making errors which results in them getting out. Therefore to practice different shot selections and batting techniques is a major aspect of training and involves the batsman facing numerous deliveries to become accustomed to the types of cues and information provided by the bowler during the run-up and delivery. It is important for the batsman to practice facing real bowlers but during an intensive training session the bowlers are at risk of over training and becoming fatigued, injured or developing errors within their technique. Therefore bowling machines are used extensively as they provide an endless supply of deliveries without any of the risks faced by real bowlers.
