ABSTRACT

Optimization of the interaction between humans and computers is important for increasing the human operator’s effectiveness when a computer is the major means of work. Until recently, all efforts were focused on the study of the ergonomic link between the user and the computer. However, professionals overlook another important problem of human-computer interaction (HCI), which includes the analysis and regulation of the psychophysiological functional state of the user or simply the psychophysiological state (PPS) during interaction with the computer (Bedny and Meister 1997; Genkin and Medvedev 1973; Leonova 1984). A functional state is formed based on the interaction between the physiological, psychological, and behavioral subsystems of an organism. This state is dynamic and changes over time. During the study of the functional state of an organism, scientists pay attention to the registration of changes in the state of the organism rather than to the regulation of the functional state in the work process. This is because no method has been developed for the regulation
