ABSTRACT

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) often results in a myriad of complex physical, cognitive, and emotional impairments that can disrupt individuals’ capacity to live independently, to perform social and occupational roles successfully, and to attain their preinjury quality of life.1 These negative effects are rarely transient, and often persist for the remainder of a person’s life, especially when he or she remains untreated.
