Widthcontrolforfishtails-Aspreviouslymentioned,conventionaledgingresultsintheformation offishtails(Fig.17.10a).Toreducefishtails,thegapbetweentheedgingrollsgraduallyopenstoproduceawiderslabatitsheadandtailendsasshowninFig.17.10b.Thisslabwideningoffsetsthenarrowingoftheslabcausedbytheformationoffishtailsduringedgingandthesubsequenthorizontalpasses.
