ABSTRACT

The increase in the roll bending effect rate is greater for narrower mills. In a 1676 mm (66 in.) wide hot strip mill (Fig. 21.2), the increase for wider strips is between 8 and 10%, whereas in a 1372 mm (54 in.) wide hot strip mill (Fig. 21.3), the increase is between 12 and 13% for every 25 mm decrease in work roll diameter. It is worth noting that for all cases, the increase in the roll bending effect rate is almost linearly proportional to the strip width.
