ABSTRACT
BoththetopandbottomCVCrollshaveanS-shapeovertheirfullbarrellength.However,the S-shapewaveformsineachoftherollsareoffsetfromeachotherby180degrees.Thisarrangement providesasymmetricalrollgapcontourwithrespecttotheverticallinethatpassesthroughthemiddleof therollgap.Figure23.24aillustratesthecasewhentheworkrollsarenotshiftedandtherollgapheight isthesameoverthefullrollbarrellength.AlthoughtherollgapisslightlyS-shaped,itproducesno detectableeffectonstripflatnessbecauseofthehighwidth-to-thicknessratioofflatrolledproducts. Thus,whenCVCrollsarenotshifted,theeffectonstripprofilewouldbethesameaswhenflatworkrolls areused(Fig.23.24b).
