ABSTRACT
As shown in Fig. 25.11, strip center crown is greatly dependent on strip width. When the strip width is less than 1150 mm, the strip center crown increases with an increase in strip width. When the strip width is greater than 1150 mm, the relationship is reversed where the strip center crown decreases with an increase in strip width. This relationship applies to both solid and SC backup rolls. There is however, a principal difference. The absolute values of the strip center crown is substantially lower with SC backup rolls th1ough the entire strip width range, and especially for strip widths greater than 1150 mm.
