ABSTRACT

Theoriginofflyingtypesizingpressescanbetracedtotheconceptofthestretch-forgingmachinesthat weredevelopedforreducingbarproducts[11-13].

Theprincipleofoperationofatypicalstretch-forgingmachineisshowninFig.15.15[11].Aswingforgingtool2isconnectedwiththeeccentrics7and8byconnectingrods4and5,whicharearranged transversetothefeeddirectionofabar1.Thedriveshafts10and11rotatetheeccentrics7and8inthe samedirectionasdepictedbythearrows.Inrespecttothedirectionofturning,theeccentric8locatedat theentrysideoftheswing-forgingtool2isrotatedapproximately150°aheadofeccentric7,locatedatthe exitsideoftheswing-forgingtool2.Asaresult,theentrysideeccentric8isalreadyapproachingits bottomdead-centerposition,andis,therefore,alreadydeformingtheworkpiecebeforetheexitside eccentric7leavesthetopdead-centerposition,andbeforetheexitendoftheswing-forgingtool2 approachestheworkpiece1.
