ABSTRACT
A short overview of current units, main constructive detailing and practical current solutions used in France may give a first opinion of the masonry place in our country. On the other hand, some comments about simplified rules for design calculation and on future application of EUROCODE 6 allow to a better knowing of specificities of such buildings in France. At the end, some indications on possible future evolutions are given, underlined by references to the main results of research works already available.
