ABSTRACT
Matahina Dam is located on the Rangitaiki River upstream of the town of Edgecumbe (Fig. 1) in the Bay of Plenty Region of the North Island of New Zealand. The region is an area of active volcanic and seismic activity.The dam is part of theMatahina Power station, a run-of-river hydroelectric plant owned and operated by TrustPower Ltd, an electric power generation company.
