ABSTRACT

Work is a central feature of life formost adults, providing our livelihood and sense of place, and occupying at least a third of our waking hours. Not surprisingly, work can have a profound impact on health. There is growing recognition that many diseases (e.g., asthma and chronic obstructive lung disease, joint and tendon disorders, stress-related mental health problems, and some cancers and communicable diseases) can be caused or augmented by workplace exposures.
