ABSTRACT
Over the last few years the question of optimal safety has been discussed intensively in many fields such as structural engineering. This question is of particular interest for the development of general safety requirements. For example, within the last decades, the general safety concept in structural engineering has been updated from the global safety factor concept to the semi-probabilistic safety concept initiating debates regarding the optimal safety of structures.
