ABSTRACT
As mentioned by many researchers, the performance of main control room (MCR) operators during abnormal and emergency situations in large-scale safety-critical systems such as chemical plants and nuclear power plants (NPPs) is strongly affected by not only the cognitive process of each operator, but also by communications and collaboration among operators (Ujita, Kawano & Yoshimura 1995). From experimental observations, Ujita, Kawano & Yoshimura (1995) also mentioned that crew communication has been judged as an important factor governing performance.
