ABSTRACT

Two sources of maritime casualty data that are widely used in FSA are the databases from Lloyd’s Marine Intelligence Unit (LMIU) and the Lloyds RegisterFairplay (LRFP). Other ship casualty databases exist, for example maintained by national authorities or class societies, but these will normally only cover segments of the fleet. The two abovementioned sources of accident data have also been utilized in the FSAs carried out within SAFEDOR. Basically, such data has been used in order to establish high-level accident frequencies.
