ABSTRACT

Quantization as a unitary representation of the Dirac brackets of a gauge invariant system with gauge fixing conditions cannot always be the one of canonical commutation relation(CCR)s. This indicates a possible ambiguity in the process of quantizing gauge invariant systems. The BRST formalism, and therefore, the Faddeev-Senjanovic(FS) path integral, is also affected by this ambiguity. Taking a gauge invariant model proposed by Friedberg et al, we argue the issue both from path integral as well as canonical quantization points of view.
