ABSTRACT

Five-level k·p model for Ga1–xA1xAs parabolic quantum wells, characterized by the continuously varying chemical composition x, is used to calculate the effective spin g*-factor of conduction electrons. The theory agrees well with experimental data of Salis et al [2001 Nature 414, 619]. Both negative and positive spin g*-values are described, as well as their dependence on an external electric field.
