Theoretical and practical aspects of adsorption of heavy metal cations on silica have been studied since the 1950s. Early studies are collected in the monograph on silica by Iler [1). Applications of sorbents based on silica gel in radiochemistry have been reviewed by Laskorin et a!. [2].
