ABSTRACT

The recent discovery that conjugated polymers with extensive 7r-electron delocal­ ization can be highly conducting has stimulated great interest among chemists, physicists, and material scientists, and some noteworthy application of these novel materials has been reported [55-57]. Among various conjugated polymers, poly( p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) is the most typical example synthesized through the use of a precursor [58], with the molecular structure shown in Fig. 11.
