ABSTRACT
The genus Alternaría is ubiquitous and abundant in the atmosphere as well as in soil, in seeds, and in agricultural commodities. It includes both plant pathogenic and saprophytic species that may damage crops in the field or cause postharvest decay of plant products in storage.
